A post on the Flix Engine discussion mailing list from one of their awesome support guys had some bad news:
However, I’ve just learned that as of December 2010, Flix Engine sales have been suspended. I do not believe you will be able to purchase Flix Engine, regardless of whether it is a good fit or not.
A quick look at the official site indicates that it was discontinued on the 22nd of December.
Flix Engine was On2’s flagship product for video transcoding. It was always way too expensive so when Google bought On2 and dropped the price for the Engine I was extremely happy as it enabled us to take a lot of the pain out of our video encoding pipeline.
Now that it is mysteriously gone, with no sign of a replacement product (yet), I have no idea what the best alternative is. This is very disappointing.
